2 things you should know about outdoor dining & gambling in New Jersey

One of the most difficult things that people are starting to learn about the pandemic in 2020 is that it is very hard for things to just ‘return to normal’ immediately.

What were once standard practices in businesses and homes across the world are now dangerous and not allowed. Things like going around without masks on or heading out to bet on the latest football match have become obsolete this year.

In the state of New Jersey, things have been progressing rather well. As noted here, New Jersey is one of the top rated states for progress and positive trends in regards to the pandemic. That doesn’t mean that everybody is satisfied with the progress, though- the two main topics of concern being outdoor dining and casino gambling, which are what we’re looking at here today.

Is outdoor dining currently allowed in New Jersey?

Much to the delight of local residents, outdoor dining has been coming back in full force in New Jersey. Naturally, it is being done in the safest and most hygienic ways possible. Every restaurant who is open for outdoor dining is making sure that they are putting tables 6 feet apart, using masks and are heavily adjusting their hygiene and guest management systems.

One of the most exciting measures that has come in recently is the reopening of outdoor dining at New Jersey’s famous casino restaurants. New Jersey is known for having a fantastic gambling scene, and the casino restaurants are truly second to none. It’s great to see them reopening in such a safe and structured manner, too.

Following on from this, it’s interesting to note that Atlantic City has just legalized open container alcohol consumption on the Boardwalk. This is a move that is beneficial in two main ways. It will help to revive the city’s party atmosphere, and help to boost up local businesses too. We covered it in this blog post here, if you’d like to learn more about it.

Is casino gambling currently allowed in New Jersey?

Despite gambling being one of the main revenue sources in the state, casinos and gambling hubs still remain shut for New Jersey residents. This has caused a lot of discussion and public debate, with many people looking to the state for a quick reopening plan. Many people are hoping to see casinos returning to normalcy in July.

Of course, it’s not as simple as ‘just reopening’ the casinos. It’s essential that casinos are opened up in a safe and manageable way, in order to keep staff members safe and to protect customers as well. If you’re looking for more information about this topic as a whole, we’ve got a blog post here dedicated to it.

It is reassuring to see that some casinos are still managing to do business, though. As we pointed out, casino restaurants are open already- and as we wrote in this blog post, some casinos have still been operating their hotels.

As a whole, this is an industry that is known for adapting quickly and making do with strange situations. The gambling industry moves quickly, and plays host to innovative companies like DraftKings and Fanduel who have been keeping gamers happy with online games. It may feel hard to be optimistic, but things are changing , and it’s sure to be a good finish to the year.

Summary:

All in all, it’s great to see that outdoor dining and casino dining have returned to the state of New Jersey- but it’s easy to understand why people might be feeling down that they can’t head to casinos yet. Hopefully, casinos in New Jersey will be back up and running in a safe way on July 4th, as we covered in this blog post.

Whether you’re a gambling fanatic, foodie or simply someone that is bored of being in the house, we would still encourage you to be as safe as you can when heading out during the pandemic. Remember to wear your mask and socially distance too. Post-pandemic gambling is certainly going to be odd, but it’ll be great to get back to it.
