BetMGM, a renowned online casino and sports betting operator announced that a New Jersey player won a $2.4 million progressive jackpot prize on a $25 bet at Borgata Online Casino. The lucky bettor, who requested to remain anonymous, hit The Big One Colossal Cash jackpot while playing the Luck O’ The Jackpot slot game on June 6.
The jackpot win has become the second-largest paid out by BetMGM in New Jersey so far this year. On January 7, another player won $2.8 million playing the MGM Grand Millions slot in the Garden State.
BetMGM’s VIP Casino Director, Alex Limesand, congratulated the NJ player on this fortune-changing win, saying they are proud to have the winning hit on one of the brand’s in-house games.
BetMGM is on Course to Break its Annual Jackpot Payout Record
BetMGM brand has become synonymous with massive progressive jackpot wins in New Jersey and other states where it operates. In 2022, the iGaming operator remitted a record $103 million to players in jackpot prize money.
Slot games developed in-house by BetMGM and available exclusively on the brand’s online casinos generated more than 50% of the total jackpot winnings. In addition to the Luck O’ The Jackpot that paid the lucky New Jersey bettor $2.4 million, BetMGM’s progressive jackpot network comprises more than 20 slot games, including popular titles, such as Bison Fury, the Dead Sea Scrolls, LootEn Khamun, Mirage Mega Magma, and MGM Grand Millions.
Since the beginning of 2023, through July, BetMGM has awarded about $75 million in progressive payouts, and the operator is on course to break the $100 million jackpot record it set last year.
Through the first half of 2023, the operator has paid out more than $23.2 million in progressive jackpot winnings to players at NJ online casinos. BetMGM NJ is the brand’s headline online casino in the Garden State, alongside sister iGaming sites Party Casino, Borgata Online Casino, and Party Poker.
New Jersey players won two of the five million-dollar jackpots awarded so far this year by BetMGM progressive slots. The MGM Grand Millions $2.8 million jackpot was won on January 7, while the $2.4 million Luck O’ The Jackpot’s The Big One Colossal Cash jackpot hit on June 6.
In March, a player in Pennsylvania won a $1 million jackpot on the MGM Grand Millions slot game. Fjord of Riches, another BetMGM’s in-house game, paid out $1 million to another Pennsylvania bettor in April.
On May 15, a lucky slot player in Michigan landed an MGM Grand Millions Megaways jackpot worth $799,048. BetMGM has distributed more than $27.4 million so far to jackpot winners in Michigan, the state which got the largest share of the total prize.
The online gaming director of BetMGM, Oliver Bartlett, BetMGM’s director of online gaming, said the company is thrilled to award such large progressive jackpots. He added that BetMGM’s key focus is on curating engaging and rewarding jackpot titles.
In-House Game Yielded the Massive Jackpot
The Luck O’ The Jackpot slot game that yielded the $2.4 million jackpot prize was created in-house by Entain’s software development arm, Win Studios. It is exclusively available on BetMGM’s online casino platforms.
The St. Patrick’s-themed slot title has 20 pay lines and five reels, scattered wilds, bonus rounds, and five progressive jackpots. The grand The Big One Colossal Cash jackpot seeds from $1 million. It offers 192 bet ways and a betting range of between 5¢ and $150.
With a 95% RTP, the game has become popular among online casino bettors, especially in New Jersey, for its frequent jackpot wins. Three years ago, a New Jersey bettor named Sherri W. won a $3,266,476.20 Luck O’ The Jackpot jackpot, still the largest payout from the slot game to date.
Borgata and NJ Online Casino Partners Performing Robustly
In the realm of online gambling in New Jersey, the state’s gaming regulator categorizes various groups of operators under Atlantic City casino licenses or approved online entities for the purpose of revenue reporting. Unfortunately, this approach hinders the public from accessing precise revenue figures for individual operators.
However, it is worth noting that the New Jersey online casinos operating under Borgata’s esteemed casino license have consistently emerged as the top performers in the state.
In 2022, when NJ casinos posted a record $5.2 billion revenue, BetMGM, Borgata, and the other iGaming co-licensees generated close to half a million dollars, beating out Golden Nugget Atlantic City and its licensee partners by nearly 14 percent.
The market leader Borgata collected almost $105 million from bettors in June 2023, with 40 million won from online casino players, as reported by ABC News. Through the first half of 2023, the grouping has posted beyond $251 million in online gaming revenue, also surpassing its closest rival, Golden Nugget AC and its iGaming partners.
About BetMGM and Borgata Online Casino
BetMGM is a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and Britain’s Entain plc. Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City is an MGM property, and both BetMGM and Borgata Online Casino operate under the casino’s license in New Jersey.
BetMGM NJ is available online, as well as a mobile betting app for Android and iOS devices. The iGaming platform features a wide range of slot games, live dealer, and table games, such as baccarat, blackjack, and roulette.
Players at BetMGM can choose from a vast catalog of over 1500 games. The majority are sourced from industry-leading gaming software developers WMS, NetEnt, and IGT. Ainsworth, Everi, Red Tiger Games, and DGC also contribute to the library.
The jackpot win is a significant boost for Borgata Online Casino, which has been facing increasing competition from other online casinos in New Jersey. In 2022, Borgata Online Casino ranked third in terms of revenue, behind DraftKings and BetMGM. However, the jackpot win could help Borgata Online Casino regain some market share.
