What You Should Know About Blackhawk’s New Game On Card for NJ Players

Global branded payments provider, Blackhawk Network Inc, has launched the ‘Game On’ card in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, now available for purchase and use to fund sports betting accounts.

The Game On payment card is issued by Metabank, NA, Member FDIC, features several sportsbook brands. The card, available on the gift card rack at local grocery stores, allows sports bettors to easily add funds to their sportsbook accounts.

Players can transfer money from their associated bank account onto a Game On card to fund their accounts with DraftKings, FanDuel, BetRivers, PlaySugarHouse, Hard Rock, and many others. Participating sportsbooks vary by state, so check the front of the card for participating brands.

At launch, the Game On cards is available for purchase in Pennsylvania and New Jersey at many local grocery stores and other retailers. Anyone interested can also get the card online at GetGameOn.com. Purchasers of the Game On card must have a sports betting account with one of the sportsbooks on the front of the card in order to use it.

The Game On card will become available in more states, subject to approval, and applicable law. Also, while you can buy a Game On card with cash, debit, or credit cards, Visa credit or debit cards may not be used to purchase a Game On card.

The Perfect Gift for the Gambler in Your Life

Anyone can now share the gift of sports betting and daily fantasy with their family and friends, or treat themselves to some sports betting action while watching their favorite team.

Head of Global Commerce at Blackhawk Network, Brett Narlinger, said, “Game On is perfect for sports bettors and gift card lovers alike. The card pairs an exciting, digital way to fund sports betting with the convenience of a gift card.

The Game On Card Provides Greater Privacy and Security

The Game On card offers sports bettors added security and privacy, and can also be used as a way to control gambling since players can use Game On to help limit their spending.

“Players that we’ve surveyed who’ve place sports bets have been clamoring for a payment option like this,” said Narlinger. “The Game On card helps to provide increased control of spending as well as privacy, compared to linking a personal bank account when funding a sports betting account. Our new Game On card absolutely helps to address those concerns.”

However, while funds can be transferred from a Game On card onto your sports betting or iGaming account, funds can not be transferred from a sportsbook account to the card. Also, the card is disposable and cannot be reloaded. When the amount of the purchase price has been used, the card should be destroyed.

DraftKings Launches a Sports Betting Gift Card

This month, sports betting giant DraftKings unveiled its own branded gift card. The Boston-based online sportsbook announced a ‘strategic collaboration’ with InComm Payments of an industry-first DraftKings branded retail gift card. Like the Game On cards, the DraftKings gift cards are issued by MetaBank.

The DraftKings gift cards are currently available at 7-11, with more retailers coming soon, in denominations of $25 and $50.

Like the Game On card, the DraftKings gift card can only add funds to the amount of the purchase price. Funds can not be added or withdrawn.

InComm’s senior VP, Tim Richardson, said, “This agreement not only offers a great gifting opportunity, but also represents an important opportunity for brand expansion and enhancement for DraftKings who, will benefit from having its brand present in tens of thousands of InComm Payments’ retail partner locations across the U.S.”

DraftKings already accepts gift cards and prepaid cards from Visa, Mastercard, and American Express to fund a player’s account.
