Doyle Brunson has claimed that he plans to return to this year’s WSOP 2021. The 10-time WSOP gold bracelet winner announced his retirement 3 years ago but appears to have missed the thrill of the final table. Much to his delight, poker fans are excited that one of the greatest poker players of all time will be making a comeback during this year’s online events.
The 87-year-old legend plans on taking part in a few select tournaments although he has not made it clear which ones now that the full schedule has been shared. Brunson is no stranger to the WSOP Main Events, having claimed 2 Main Event titles through his long and illustrious professional poker career.

The World Series of Poker is finally making its triumphant return in 2021. Online bracelets have already started locally on WSOP. Com and have been running since their advent on July 1st, 2021. The international online bracelets are yet to start though with the international events expected to start on August 1st.
As the biggest and most popular poker festival in the world, fans, and poker lovers have a lot to look forward to during this year’s WSOP. Experts are even predicting that it could end up being the largest poker event in history, which is indeed something remarkable to look forward to. Part of the reason why so many people are anticipating the WSOP this year is because of its postponement last year as a result of the ongoing pandemic.
Earlier in the year, the WSOP has announced that it would be hosting 88 event series in addition to several marquee events. However, the full schedule is a lot more definitive now that the events planned for the Rio in fall are all lined up. The first bracelet event was expected to take place on July first with 33 online bracelets on offer to players throughout the month in both Nevada and New Jersey.
As the domestic series in these 2 states winds up, the international leg will be preparing to start on GGPoker. During the international series, an additional 33 bracelets will be awarded to participants. Like the domestic leg, the international series is expected to award lots of prizes. What does the international leg of 2021 WSOP look like?
The highly anticipated full schedule for the international leg of this year’s WSOP online bracelet events was shared not too long ago by GGPoker. As mentioned earlier, the international participants will battle it out for 33 Gold Bracelets, with more than one-third of these bracelet events offering a guarantee.
Although there are a lot of events to look forward to, international players will want to keep a lookout for the $5,000 Main Event, which promises a $20 million guarantee. Although this estimated $20 million has dropped from last year’s $25 million guarantees, there is still lots for fans to look forward to.
This is the second year that GGPoker will be hosting the online international WSOP Main Event. Last year when all live events were canceled during the pandemic, GGPoker stepped up to host the WSOP festival online that then culminated in a record topping Main Event. While the series certainly experienced hiccups, in the beginning, this year’s tournament is expected to be bigger and better.
Even with the reduced guarantee this year lowered to $20 million, this year’s WSOP is still expected to be the biggest online poker tournament to ever be held. The buy-ins for this year’s tournaments range from $50 to $25,000. The average buy-in for the whole festival is $2,617. 3 tournaments in the series will feature a price tag of at least $10,000 or more with 17 of the 33 events costing less than $1,000 to sign up.
What about the Full Live schedule to be held in Vegas?
There are certainly lots of highlights to look forward to during this year’s WSOP in Vegas. However, the highlight seems to be Event 84, Nosebleed PLO, which has the largest buy-in pot limit. This Omaha Tournament boasts a limit of t $50,000 for participants to secure a seat at the table. There will be several nosebleed games spread out through the schedule with different buy-ins of $50,000 and $100,000, with the highest being $250,000.
Another great addition for fans to look forward to this year is the unique Event 20 which is a $1000 buy-in flip and Go No Limit Holdem that was created to resemble the well-known Flip and Go format that is popular in GGPoker. Event 20 will be the first time that the format has been hosted in a live setting. Participants can also look forward to the $10,000 Championship across all major genres including Omaha, Stud, and Hold’em.
Now that WSOP has shared the whole Main Event schedule, it will allow fans to prepare. The first events of the lineup will narrow down the participants. After 7 days of play, the participants will be reduced to 9 players. The remaining 9 will battle it out in November before the final table begins on November 16th.
Online satellites have been ongoing in preparation for the WSOP Main Event. WSOP.com has been running the initial domestic satellites on 888Poker software. The first satellite was held early in June and even came close to awarding 2 Main Event tickets. This first satellite saw 93 people enter but the $215 buy-in-game only managed to award one full seat in the Main Event.
