Poker great David “dpeters17” Peters appears to be on an unstoppable roll this year having emerged champion in WSOP Online Event 25. David “dpeters17” Peters walked away with his third bracelet in WSOP Event 25, which was a $7,777 NLH Lucky 7’s High Roller affair that attracted 151 entries. Of the 151 entries, 113 consisted of players while the remaining 38 were rebuys.
In total, the entries powered the prize pool into the 7-figure range, managing to reach $1,113,927. This effectively made Event 25 the largest buy-in even on this year’s fully packed schedule. Owing to his win, poker pro David “dpeters17” bagged the top prize of $283,940.
In total, David “dpeters17” now boasts 3 career bracelets. David “dpeters17” has had quite a great year indeed having enjoyed back-to-back victories this year. After missing out most of the initial PokerGo Tour events that were held in early 2021, David “dpeters17” accomplishment is quite the feat.
Before this, Peters claimed the top prize at the 2019 Poker Open championship. Peters, therefore, has built an impressive winning history in 3 years thus accumulating his life earnings to $34,806,289. The 34-year-old poker pro hails from Toledo but he currently resides in Vegas.

The newest win gives Peters a unique trifecta of titles. Peters bagged his very first WSOP bracelet in a $1,500 NLH event that was held at the WSOP in Vegas in 2016. His second bracelet followed much later in 2020, during the international leg of last year’s online tournament that was hosted by GGPoker. Last year, Peters had to travel to an undisclosed country to take part in the super high profile $10K heads-up championship.
This latest victory was quite the accomplishment having been pitted against some of the best poker players in the game. This tournament saw the likes of high-profile players such as Nick Schulman, Kristen Bicknell, Daniel Negreanu, and Scott Seiver taking part. As a result of this latest bracelet, Peters is seventh on poker’s all-time tournament list and is the first on Ohio’s all-time list.
The battle that was
Peters worked hard to earn this victory. The poker champion’s victory came after a close 3-way fight involving another prominent bracelet winner by the name of Ryan Laplante. Laplante eventually lost the hand to CherryHillPD, who claimed the remainder of Laplante’s chips in a knockout hand. But it wasn’t all bad news for Laplante as he managed to earn $120,638 for his deep run.
For a while, CherryHillPD was at the top. However, Peters doubled through in a few shorthands to take the top spot. Peters then cut down CherryHill’s stack until Peters outwitted him to take the title and covered the bracelet. It wasn’t an easy road, as the final table was lined up with high roller after high roller.
In total, the entire final table saw 4 previous bracelet winners seated. Apart from Peters and Laplante, the other previous bracelet winners on the final table were Galen Hall, who took 7th place, and Brandon Adams, who took 5th position overall.
The 2021 World Series of Poker is already halfway through
The 2021 World Series of Poker has already reached the midpoint. The events in the US have been ongoing since July 1st and have been taking place on WSOP.com for players in both New Jersey and Nevada. This years’ WSOP will be played in 5 sections namely:
- The first event in the country was held online at WSOP.com (Nevada/New Jersey) kicked off on July 1st and concluded on August 1st.
- The International online event at GGPoker has been taking place since August 1st and will conclude on September 12th.
- –Online at WSOP.com, this time for residents of Pennsylvania will start taking place from August 6th and will conclude on August 16th.
- The US participants will battle it out at the Final Event at WSOP live, which will be hosted in Las Vegas. This last leg of the US tournament is scheduled to take place between September 30th and November 23rd.
- The international leg, on the other hand, will culminate into WSOP Europe live, which will be hosted in the Czech Republic. This international event is expected to take place between November 14th and December 8th.
If you do not already know, this year’s WSOP online event is shaping up to be one of the most formidable poker events in history. Last year, at the height of the pandemic, live poker tournaments had to be postponed for health safety purposes. This year, live tournaments are finally making their triumphant return and poker fans couldn’t be more excited.
Among the huge events, fans and participants alike have to look forward to includes Event #84, Nosebleed PLO, which is expected to be the largest Omaha tournament. The buy-in at this event is $50,000 for a chance to take part. The highest nosebleed game during the WSOP 2021 will be the $250,000 buy-in hold ’em game.
Another great event that participants have to look forward to is Event 20, which is FLIP & GO No-Limit Hold’em with a $1000 buy-in. This tournament will be based on the common Flip & Go format, which is popular on the GGPoker platform. This will be a debut event, running for the first time in a live venue.
Apart from these new and exciting events, poker lovers still have mainstay events to look forward to. For instance, the $10,000 Championship events will be available across all major disciplines including hold’em, stud, as well as Omaha. The ever-popular dealer’s choice championship event with a $50,000 is also something to look forward to.

With the Main Event schedule now fully in place, we already know that after 7 days of play, the number of players will whittle down to 9. The remaining 9 will then battle it out at the Final Table on November 16th until this year’s winner is crowned.
