Regulators Ease their Restrictions on Sports Betting Around the Nation

With major league sports resuming, sports betting is also a hot topic. It’s still a comparatively new industry and the regulations around it are sometimes unclear. Fortunately, a few states are working to clarify it.

For example, the Massachusetts House recently passed a $459 Million economic development bill; the bill includes funding for local projects, non-profits affected by the COVID-19 shutdown, and language clarifying sports betting.

Specifically, the Massachusetts bill identifies three regulatory license categories for sports wagers; one for in-person and online at casinos, a second for in-person wagers at racetracks, and the third for digital-only and mobile sports wagers.

Recent Developments in the World of Sports Betting

Many developments are happening quickly in the sports betting world right now.

For example, DraftKings recently announced that it’s packed its sports sponsorship portfolio, such as finalizing a deal with the PGA Tour.

Norb Gambuzza, PGA Tour Senior Vice President of Media and Gaming has this to say, “the PGA Tour is very pleased with growing collaboration with DraftKings. The relationship now includes sports betting, as a natural evolution. It fully promotes and supports the PGA Tour’s objectives of reaching and engaging new fans while presenting our players’ tournaments to them as well as our media platforms.”

What you should know about FansUnite Entertainment Inc.

For the first time in five months, FansUnite Entertainment is prepared to welcome back Scottish soccer. The 2020-2021 Scottish Premiership season began on Saturday, August 1, 2020.

Scottish soccer fans will be able to watch the best matches, through Sky Sports exclusive deal to broadcast forty-eight Premiership matches this season.

‘We are thrilled to welcome back Scottish soccer, as it makes up the single most betting volume on our platform,’ noted Paul Petrie, founder, and Director of McBookie. ‘During the 2019 season, the Scottish Premiership produce $567k CAD of betting volume for McBookie. That represents around 13% of the total CAD 4.42 million in sports betting placed in the soccer category of our platform.’

While the 2019 Scottish soccer season was cut short due to the COVID-19 shutdown, McBookie patrons were still able to enjoy sports betting on other events, such as the English Premier League.

“It’s been a long five months without soccer in Scotland, and we’re thrilled for the first ball to be kicked,” said Paul Petrie. “Our patrons have had fun betting on the English Premier League, but nothing beats sports betting on soccer in your own country. After a strong month with the English Premier League, the new Scottish Premiership season allows McBookie to watch our business achieve new heights, on our own turf.”

“As a versatile sports betting platform, McBookie has once again shown they’re able to provide a diverse set of sports betting options to a growing base in any market environment,” said Darius Eghdami, CEO and Chairman of FansUnite Entertainment. “When we acquired McBookie earlier this year, the goal was to give the team the resources needed to drive bettor registration. With one of the most popular sports returning to play, we’re happy to see how tMcBookie can scale in 2020 and the future.”

McBookie is also redesigning its loyalty program in conjunction with the 2020 Scottish Premiership season. It’s also launched the Tartan Club rewarding regular bettor with enhanced odds, enhanced prices, and free sports bets.

Also, McBookie will continue sponsoring Jim Delahunt’s column in the Scottish Sun and the Daily Record’s Mr. Fixit column. These two columns are the most significant sports betting coverage in Scotland’s two largest national newspapers.”
