FanDuel is the latest official betting partner of the PGA Tour in yet another move by the Tour to add more mobile betting companies to its list of partners. We broke the news two weeks ago that PointsBet had signed up to be partners with the PGA tour. It is now sports betting and fantasy kings FanDuel’s turn to jump on board.
This is the third gambling company that has signed up to become an official betting partner of the tour following BetMGM’s announcement last month, which we covered. The online betting and gambling industry is growing at breakneck speed. This is a move that shows once again how much the PGA wants to get in on some of the action.
What Becoming an ‘Official Betting Partner’ Looks Like in Real Terms
This is a deal that makes FanDuel an official partner of the PGA Tour, but what does that mean? Becoming an official betting partner means that FanDuel will have the rights to advertise on many of the Tour’s platforms. The betting site will be able to create betting content which will be shown during the Tour’s coverage. FanDuel will also be allowed to use the PGA logo on its ads and content.
Norb Gambuzza, SVP, Media and Gaming at the PGA Tour, spoke about their new official betting partner:
“We have long admired FanDuel’s brand, product and marketing strategies as well as the leadership position it has taken since the legalization of sports betting in 2018. We are excited to bring FanDuel into the PGA Tour’s Official Betting Operator program as we continue to engage new fans”
Yet Another Positive And Forward Thinking Move For FanDuel
FanDuel, much like rivals DraftKings, has flown against the wind in 2020. Unlike so many businesses within the gambling sphere, they have found consistent growth. As mobile betting laws have been relaxed in many states the company has found its way into emerging markets. Through their mobile betting app, FanDuel has been making money hand over fist. To become an official betting partner of the PGA Tour is a move which will certainly see them continue their rapid growth.
Mike Raffensperger, CMO of FanDuel Group spoke about this move:
“Golf interest is up on FanDuel, so we are excited to deepen our relationship with the PGA Tour, We will now be able to offer unique gaming experiences on our platform, special Tour related promotions for our customers and an enhanced content experience across the Tour properties to really prove to bettors across the nation that there are More Ways to Win at FanDuel.”
This once again shows the speed with which FanDuel reacts to changes in the market. Over nine of the last twelve Sundays, golf has been the biggest single event handle on the sportsbook. This move capitalizes on exactly what FanDuel’s users want.
What This Could Mean For Golf Fans
Although this is, of course, going to be a lucrative move for both the PGA Tour and FanDuel, benefits will extend to golf fans, too. In order to drum up the support and the promotion that they need, those who enjoy watching and betting on golf can expect some tasty offers. We have seen this in other sporting leagues like the NBA and NFL, where official partners dangle huge bonuses.
Golfing fans can certainly expect some great offers and increased odds once the major tournaments come around.
No Signs of Slowing Down
These official partnership deals are a great way for betting companies to gain access to both an audience and a sporting league or franchise. FanDuel has recognized this and they show no signs of slowing down in making such deals. The company already has a deal in place with the Denver Broncos; the first of its kind. Now with this deal with the PGA Tour and a possible deal with Cousin Sal in the works, the sportsbook clearly has big plans for the future.
The FanDuel sportsbook, reviewed by us here, is widely considered the best in the nation.
