Borgata Builds a New Sportsbook

Back in January the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa announced the construction of a new sportsbook and bar. The $11 million the Moneyline Bar and Book destination bar and sportsbook finally made its debut on June 29. Adjacent to the Borgata sportsbook is the Level One Cocktail Bar and Lounge, connected to the sportsbook by an escalator.

“When conceptualizing the Moneyline and Level One, we wanted to give our guests an experience that was more than just a transaction point for sports wagering. We believe that Borgata’s guests deserve something that would bring together sports, entertainment, nightlife, fine food, and gaming into a destination they could enjoy seven nights a week,” said Marcus Glover, president, and chief operating officer for the Borgata.

The Moneyline sportsbook is located in an 8,000-square-foot space, dominated by a massive 40-foot-wide by 11.5-foot-tall video wall. Additionally, there seventeen 86-inch and 98-inch displays. Moreover, the 35-foot-long bar has 19 slot machines built-in. Finally, there are six sports betting windows and self-serve kiosks.

“Since Borgata made its debut in the Atlantic City more than 15 years ago, we have maintained an unwavering dedication to growth and development; our new concept bar and sportsbook exemplifies this objective,” commented Glover. “We’re proud to be at the forefront of legalized sports betting in New Jersey and look forward to advancing our new sportsbook with a groundbreaking entertainment and sports betting experience for our guests to enjoy.”

Borgata: Groundbreaker in New Jersey Sports Betting

Borgata made history in June, 2018, when it became the first casino in Atlantic City to accept a legal sports wager. That sports bet was placed just three days after Governor Phil Murphy signed the sports betting bill unanimously passed by the State Legislature. That historic bill created a regulated sport betting environment in which licensed casinos could open legal sportsbooks.

Following that first sports bet, Borgata quickly followed up with the Borgata Sportsbook sports-betting app, licensed in New Jersey. The sports betting app has a full menu of major league U.S. sports and hand-picked international sporting events. The sports betting app allows customers to sign-up and manages their wallets directly from their mobile devices from any place in the state of New Jersey.

Borgata is Backed by MGM Resorts International

As just one part of the vast MGM Resorts International empire, Borgata takes advantage of its parent company’s sportsbook experience. In Nevada, MGM Resorts International has more than 25 years of sportsbook experience. In the Silver State, MGM’s combined resorts handle more than 4 million sports bets every year with an annual handle of more than $1 billion. Important relationships between MGM and the NBA, WNBA, MLB, and NHL, firmly establish MGM Resorts and PlayMGM as the market leader when it comes to major professional sports league partnerships.

In March, MGM Resorts debuted a new sports betting experience in all of its Las Vegas properties, as well as launching the BetMGM app in Nevada. The launch of BetMGM in the Silver State included not only the mobile sports betting app, but also the rebranding of MGM Resort’s sportsbooks. Finally, more than 100 gaming kiosks were placed around MGM’s Las Vegas properties, including at Bellagio, MGM Grand, ARIA, Mandalay Bay, Park MGM, The Mirage, Luxor, New York-New York, and Excalibur.

BetMGM is not only live in Nevada and New Jersey, but also West Virginia and Indiana. Once approved, BetMGM will also go live in Michigan with statewide mobile sports betting and a retail sportsbook at MGM Grand Detroit. MGM Resorts also has partnerships with Yahoo Sports and Buffalo Wild Wings to expand the reach of the BetMGM brand across the country.

As MGM continues to expand its sports betting reach, responsible gambling is a key focus. GameSense is a program licensed to MGM Resorts by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, focusing on transparent, positive, and proactive communication with players about how to gamble responsibly.
