BetMGM to Integrate GameSense Responsible Gaming Program into Mobile Gaming

The United States gambling market will witness another first from BetMGM as it adopts responsible gaming software as part of its mobile betting experience. In an announcement made by the company management, the iGaming provider reported that it will be integrating GameSense into its platform.

There has been news in the recent past of people getting into problem gambling and such an initiative will help reduce these cases. The truth is that many people start gambling as a way to pass time but the intent somehow shifts to something else.

There are people who bet as a means to survive which is wrong and player education is the best way to enlighten them. The greatest risk with gambling is that something so innocent could morph into a habit that affects relationships and calls for medical attention.

GameSense is however not new to the BetMGM sportsbook app as the innovative program that was specifically created to promote responsible gambling is licensed to MGM Resorts International. Since BetMGM is the betting wing of MGM Resorts, it makes sense that it is going to be rolled out through its already existing gaming apps.

With this agreement setting the ball rolling, the US market has opened its doors to the first gaming operator to use the program. GameSense was created by BCLC to not only promote responsible gambling but also to educate betting enthusiasts on best conduct on gambling sites.

By linking players with customer support specialists, the program’s mission is to tune the mind of players to transparent, proactive and positive communication regarding their gambling challenges in a manner that will encourage healthy and safe gambling experiences. Speaking at the time of making the announcement, Adam Greenblatt who is the CEO of BetMGM highlighted the need to safeguard the integrity of gambling if the industry is to remain sustainable for a long time.

According to Greenblatt the US gambling industry is growing exponentially and the company has chosen to pay attention to an aspect that could easily make it crumble. He is of the opinion that GameSense is the tool that many players in the gambling space require to remain empowered as they go about betting.

Before the end of the year, GameSense will be part of the larger BetMGM experience in New Jersey and players will use it seamlessly. Through the use of active customer interactions and engaging content, guests on BetMGM platforms will be instantly equipped with skills that make their sessions quite deliberate.

Speaking on the willingness of BetMGM to adopt this product into their offerings, the Interim CEO and President of BCLC, Lynda Cavanaugh expressed delight at the impact that GameSense will have on the customer. GameSense is designed for healthy play through equipping gambling site visitors with resources and opportunities to keep their engagements safe.

Cavanaugh revealed that the need to promote positive habits among casino players extends beyond the fact that BCLC is responsible for coming up with the product. For now, the company is looking forward to a fruitful engagement with BetMGM. The management of BCLC is optimistic that the experience that BetMGM has with dealing directly with bettors is going to positively influence the success of this project.

On one hand is a company that is keen on keeping the player safe and hence creates a tool to facilitate that and on the other is a willing business that is ready to embrace the tool to ensure that players remain safe enough to be able to engage in the long term.

Where the journey began

MGM Resorts had its first public association in 2017 when they introduced GameSense in their gambling properties across the US. At the time, the casino group incorporated the responsible gaming program in its M life Rewards desks which could be accessed by players through easy-to-use touchscreens. From these initial efforts at promoting responsible gambling, the company has on several occasions been recognized by the National Council on Problem Gambling.

The market is currently witnessing an integration which may appear new but the history dates back to 2017. CEO & President of MGM Resorts, Bill Hornbuckle, has on numerous occasions reiterated the fact that MGM Resorts will continue to support responsible gambling efforts at all their properties throughout the country.

Extending the efforts of gaming responsibly beyond their operations by bringing onboard BetMGM, MGM Resorts continues to showcase its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at responsible gaming. Hornbuckle mentioned that GameSense has been their responsible gaming partner for a couple of years. The two partners take pride in offering useful information to their guests that in the long run ensures that they have fun betting.

GameSense has been rolled out in all casinos operating in the US legal gambling markets. With plans for BetMGM to expand into other areas and markets in the country, the presence of GameSense is bound to spread. So far, customers can access the responsible gaming resources at their convenience and the focus for the partners is to ensure that the process of accessing them is straightforward.

For anyone who would like to take advantage of the GameSense platform, the first step is to download BetMGM. This app is available to smartphone users to download from Google Play or App Store.  The gaming platform can also be accessed online by launching www.betmgm.com on a browser without the need to download.

GameSense has been around for the past 12 years during which time it has been dedicated to promoting player awareness and education on online gambling in NJ. The program works because it has been built around credible guidelines and industry tested practices.

Final Thoughts

Currently, GameSense has been adopted by 14 betting providers across the greater North American region. The program is recognized as a worthy resource by the World Lottery Association, North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries and National Council on Problem Gambling. So far, no other program has been as successful in fighting problem gambling.
