UniBet and the Philadelphia Eagles have teamed up to launch the first sports-themed online casino app in the country. As an official partner of the team, Unibet PA is poised to launch Eagles Blackjack, to be followed by Eagles Slots in Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia Eagles are the first major pro sports team in the country to partner with an online casino, allowing them to craft their brand into real-money casino games.
Last year, Unibet become the official online casino partner of the Eagles. That partnership recently expanded to include Unibet’s online sportsbook.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with an innovative partner such as Unibet, who continues to craft new and exciting online possibilities for our fans,” commented Catherine Carlson, the Philadelphia Eagles Senior Vice President of Revenue and Strategy. “As the online gambling industry continues to expand and emerge in the growing marketplace, our partnership with Unibet brings us to a new level, allowing the Eagles to be at the forefront of the industry, such as being the first professional sports team to have its own casino games.”
Online Casinos Have a Higher Margin Than Sportsbooks
While team partnerships with sports betting are obvious, online casinos have a higher margin and larger growth opportunity for online gambling operators.
Many in the online gaming industry see online sportsbooks as a portal to the wider online gambling environment. This makes Unibet’s ability to drive Eagles sports bettors to an Eagles-themed virtual casino a potential money-maker.
Currently, the Eagles’ Blackjack game is live on the Unibet PA app. It plays like most online blackjack games; it’s easy to play and has low-limit betting. Players can also instantly enter and exit games if they so choose.
However, what makes it different is that the game has an Eagles-branded table with Eagles-branded cards, including the same font numbers used on the Eagles’ jerseys.
Unibet plans to launch the Eagles online slots game sometime later this year.
Unibet is currently ranked as one of Pennsylvania’s favorite online casinos, featuring the best online slots, and a wide range of table games. The addition of Unibet’s Eagles-themed casino games will surely appeal to fans of the Keystone State’s favorite team.
UniBet Partnered with the Mohegan Sun Pocono
UniBet is licensed in Pennsylvania under its partnership with the Mohegan Sun Pocono Casino, owned by the Mohegan tribe of Indians.
UniBet is licensed to provide Mohegan Sun Pocono with both online sports betting and online casino products. UniBet also runs the luxurious retail sports lounge at the Mohegan Sun Pocono at Lehigh Valley Racino.
Online Gambling in Pennsylvania and Neighboring Ohio
On October 26, 2017, the Pennsylvania State House passed a bill legalizing online gambling in the state. On October 30, 2017, Governor Tom Wolf signed the bill into law.
While land-based casino gambling in the Keystone State has been legal only for around a decade, Pennsylvania is second only to Nevada when it comes to land-based casino revenue.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board was established in 2004, and oversees all gambling in the state. Gambling in Pennsylvania runs the gamut from the brick-and-mortar casinos, horse racing, sports betting, the Pennsylvania Lottery, bingo, and fantasy sports.
Residents of the Keystone State’s neighbor to the west, Ohio, had to travel to Pennsylvania to enjoy a weekend of gambling until 2009, when Ohio legalized four casinos in the state, one each in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo. At the time, it was anticipated that the four casinos would generate $600 million in tax revenue, to be distributed to local governments and school districts around the state. Today, there are 11 casinos throughout the state of Ohio. Only this year, the Buckeye State passed House Bill 194, legalizing online gambling and sports betting in Ohio.
